Blut und Boden "Blood and Soil" refers to an ideology that focuses on ethnicity based on two factors, descent (Blood (of a folk)) and homeland/Heimat (Soil). It celebrates the relationship of a people to the land they occupy and cultivate, and it places a high value on the virtues of rural living." Wikipedia
I recently saw a very interesting exhibition in the Hamburger Kunstahalle: Three different artists from different times juxtaposed in very cleverly both in the exhibition and the catalogue. [link]
The exhibition was called Müde Helden, and the artist in he show are: Ferdinand Hodler. Aleksandr Dejneka and Neo Rauch. Well worth a visit. It is open until the 13th of May.
This picture reminded me a lot of some of Neo Rauch works, both in subject matter but also because of the strong saturated colours. Not as wild and absurd as his though! I am just a meek swede!
